There are various ways in which church members demonstrate generosity, for instance:

  • The children were very enthusiastic about The Jars of Grace Appeal for UNICEF’s Children’s Emergency Fund, launched on Harvest Festival Day. £607.03 was raised in 2008.
  • Some children collect monies for World Mission through JMA (Junior Mission for All).
  • St George’s Crypt is grateful for the continuing gifts of food from members, and visitors to the Coffee Centre, as well as the provision of clothing and bed linen etc. for the collection made each autumn.
  • Some members have National Children's Homes (NCH) Boxes, continuing the traditional Methodist support for this Children’s Charity, which has recently changed its name to Action for Children.
  • Christchurch Guild, Wednesday Group and Housegroups support chosen charities.
  • Social occasions for fund raising purposes are well supported.
  • As in many congregations, there is a tradition of holding Gift Services during the period of preparation for Christmas. Last December we collected food for St Georges Crypt, supported the BEACON toiletries appeal and made up Shoeboxes for Rumania.
